Documenting Gifts

  • Kate is singing down the hall and I am quietly listening. It's been years since we last heard her. Isn't it funny how sometimes you don't know you are missing something until you hear it again? She was born singing and apparently sixteen is the age she resumed.
  • Austin's use of large vocabulary words in context: literally, actually, nervous, frustrated and possibly.
  • A tough student felt loved and seen this week.
  • Email praising Kate from a busy teacher.
  • Laughter around a full dinner table
  • Hot cocoa and hand warmers for early morning bus duty from a thoughtful boss
  • Super hero action figures lining the stairs again
  • Erin exiting anesthesia hungry and chatty (and the bottomless bowls of soup that followed)
  • Bonfire with all my kids. It was such a great day.
  • Loud dinosaur wars.

She was showing him the states on a map and he very seriously needed to know where to find Target.

Austin met Pyro, the fire dog at our local fire station

We had one amazing day together as a family of ten. We all took the day off work and school to spend the time playing, eating, laughing and grabbing our one shot at a complete family photo in 2021. Once the kids all went inside from the bonfire tonight, Greg and I remained, reflecting on the chaos we created. This is us. Well, this is us a little cleaned up anyway.
