Easter Weekend

We stopped in for dinner with my sister's family at our parent's house on our way home from Georgia. The kids are getting so big and remaining camera shy but Brennen now tops six feet and Mason is trying to catch up. Ty is the smallest and thinks he will be taller than Grandma and Makenna by Christmas. He is well on his way. But we got to meet the newest family member who has reminded everyone how much work goes into raising a puppy. These little faces are cute for a reason. But that fur was oh so soft and Jasper still has puppy breath. We were rather taken with him.

I attempted a recipe for the kids to have a sweet treat for breakfast. It was a mess but they enjoyed it. But based on appearance alone, I think this qualifies as a fail.

Our adorable grandson had an Easter egg hunt at school. His momma sent photos of him ready to go. We swooned. Of course we did. He woke Easter morning and exclaimed, "wow! Thank you Easter Bunny! Have a great day!"

Ty begged for a spring break all nighter. We reluctantly agreed. He was passed out when the dog woke us at 1am. Thank goodness. But both Kate and Ty hosted friends for sleepovers and we fed groups of kids repeatedly. It felt like old times. Finally.

Kate and Grace requested a friendship photoshoot. They have grown up so much since their friendship began in the third grade. I love them individually and together they made a pretty sweet team.

I gathered with two friends on a deck enjoying a charcuterie board and tea for a few hours one afternoon and started a new hobby this weekend as well. I'm not sure I am ever going to reach the relaxing portion of watercolor painting but a start is a start, none the less.

Erin reluctantly made a large purchase this weekend. She drove her car until it literally was not going to remain on the road anymore. It died at the dealership, as is often the case when one doesn't want to concede to the need for the investment. So she is safely behind the wheel of a 2018 with only 17,000 miles. We are grateful she will no longer be stranded on highways. This has been a repeated issue. The dealer offered her $500 trade or $500 off the purchase of the new car if she wanted to junk the old one herself. She accepted the trade and left them the junker to simplify the transaction.

The kids made some noise this past week about Easter baskets. Given I no longer had the old buckets we used to set up for Easter and I had no baskets available, I made due with random serving bowls and an assortment of candy. Over the years, we had gotten away from sweet treats and moved into small gifts instead. It was fairly expensive and frankly, unnecessary given the ages of the kids. But Makenna sent the meme above in the group chat and it made me laugh. So here it is, minus one Reese's Egg. Mind your business.
Dressed and ready for church, we received last minute notice our service was canceled due to covid exposure among three leaders. So far, everyone remains healthy so we are grateful. But dresses were exchanged for leggings and preschool lessons exchanged for relaxing. Napping, sitting in the sun and casual dining covered the gorgeous afternoon.

All in all, it was a beautiful Easter Sunday.
